Meet our ARTSHOP team
Cherylyn Russell is ARTSHOP’s Director. Cherylyn’s career in the arts, framing, and display industry began in 1990 at Mosman’s Notanda Gallery, working alongside Director Angela Luessie and Notanda’s small, all-female team of framers and consultants. Within five years, Cherylyn accepted the opportunity to work among the framing and display team at Artarmon’s Amarisco under Manager Jill Blee, later moving on to manage the Framing Division upon Jill’s retirement—overseeing growth, especially with the business’s recording industry clients, and learning about specialised engraving and display techniques from neighbours like Harry and Jacob Kuijian at Arrow Signs.
Cherylyn’s interest in, practice of, and dedication to artwork care through museum-standard framing techniques was fostered during this era and was—and remains today—the philosophical foundation upon which ARTSHOP’s services are provided to its loyal and highly valued clientele, some 24+ years after making ARTSHOP her own in 1999.
Lucinda Steele has worked with ARTSHOP since 1996. Lucinda, known to family, friends, and ARTSHOP’s customers as ‘Lu’, is relied upon by hundreds of Southeast Queensland artists, art collectors, investors, and makers for her empathetic advice and customer service, her skilful, stylish, and confident framing design, and her execution of truly beautiful custom framing. Lu assist’s ARTSHOP Customers with curating their artwork collections, advising on placement and leading on-site installations. You will love Lu’s style, kindness, generosity, and sense of humour. Lu has an all-round expertise of business and general management, having managed retail businesses and restaurants as well as ARTSHOP from 2019 to 2024.
Evan Hollis joined the ARTSHOP team in 2024. He is well known for his longstanding role with the Downlands College Arts Department (since 1999) and for his skilful and successful curation of the RME Downlands Art Exhibition since 2006. His experience and connections across regional arts communities, galleries, and institutions have helped shape that exhibition into a respected and diverse cultural event.
A practicing artist with a Fine Art degree (Creative – Printmaking) from UniSQ, Evan brings to ARTSHOP a discerning eye, attention to detail, and technical expertise in framing design. He is also known for his work in printmaking, sculpture, and theatre set design—reflecting his broad creative interests and thoughtful design sensibility. Evan’s warmth, community spirit, and genuine care for clients make him a natural fit within our ARTSHOP team. In addition to the physical demands of custom picture framing, Evan remains fit through his weekly participation in Brisbane United Ice Hockey League!
Once affectionately known as ‘ARTSHOP girls’ (now a little dated with Evan on the team!), our staff enjoy long tenures, develop deep expertise, grow meaningful careers, and share a lasting commitment to the craft. We truly consider each team member to be family.
Special thanks to Rebecca ‘Beck’, Cath, Paulani, Megan, Angela, Naomi, Grace, Susie, Steph, Amanda, and Denise for your service, support, and friendship over the years.
