Our story

Artshop Framing and Artists’ Supplies was founded in 1990 at 4 Laurel Street, Toowoomba, by Ian Lloyd as a framing studio primarily serving the South East Queensland artist community. Around the same time, Sydney born-and-bred Cherylyn Russell was gaining a large and highly specialised range of framing and display skills for residents, corporates, interiors and the music and advertising industries across Sydney.

At Ian’s invitation, Cherylyn relocated to Toowoomba to assume management of Artshop in 1998. In 1999 purchased the business, repositioned it as ARTSHOP Fine Custom Framing and Art Restoration, and trained ARTSHOP’s staff in museum-standard custom framing practices. Together, they introduced ARTSHOP’s loyal clientele to best practice art and object framing and preservation, which saw the business grow as word of mouth took over.

In 2007, ARTSHOP relocated to support its growth, custom-renovating premises at 12 Bowen Street, Toowoomba. This beautiful studio provides an inspirational and convenient design experience locale for ARTSHOP's discerning clientele, with a dust-free, climate-controlled assembly and production facility.

Today, the ARTSHOP team brings museum-standard conservation framing materials and methods to every commission, conserving, restoring and beautifying the treasured artworks and artefacts entrusted to them. That commitment has been recognised with the Australian National Framing Award, and ARTSHOP is a member of the Picture Framers Guild of Australia (PFGA) and the Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM).



Still proudly based in Toowoomba, ARTSHOP serves artists, collectors, businesses and institutions across South East Queensland, and continues to support the regional arts community it was founded to serve.
