“Where flowers bloom, so does hope”

As Toowoomba prepares for the Carnival of Flowers, we’re reminded that another much-loved moment in the community’s cultural calendar is just around the corner: the 2025 RME Downlands Art Exhibition, running from 20–24 September 2025.

A truly beautiful capture of Hope by @petracross_art invites visitors to pause and reflect. Petra says, “Hope is a quiet study of light, touch, and nature. A hand reaches for a flower gently, set against a warm backdrop. It speaks to the fleeting beauty of small moments and the quiet strength found in them.” Its warm bronze tones and delicate composition make this work a ethereal and contemplative piece.

ARTSHOP is once again delighted and privileged to sponsor this progressive and thoughtful exhibition, curated by our own Evan Hollis. His long-standing connection to Downlands College and curatorial vision—together with the exceptional exhibiting artists—continue to elevate the calibre of the catalogue and enrich the exhibition experience.

The exhibition brings together some of our region’s, and indeed Australia’s, most talented artists, offering collectors, art lovers, and the wider community the chance to experience and celebrate these remarkable works. Each piece invites our pause, reflection, and appreciation.

Beyond celebrating art, the exhibition is a meaningful expression of community. As the main fundraiser for the Downlands Parents and Friends Committee, it supports the next generation of artists, enhances the Downlands College facilities, and contributes to professional development and pastoral care of its students. In this way, the RME Downlands Art Exhibition leaves a legacy that adds to the richness of life and the hope that art can inspire.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the organisers of the RME Downlands Art Exhibition, the dedicated volunteers, and our generous fellow sponsors, whose support ensures that this cherished exhibition continues to flourish.
