ARTSHOP Toowoomba welcomes Evan Hollis

Cherylyn Russell • October 17, 2024

We are delighted to warmly welcome Evan Hollis to the ARTSHOP team this week.

For many, Evan is a familiar name—he has been the visionary curator of the annual, and highly-regarded, Downlands College Art Exhibition, where he has skilfully led the administrative and volunteer teams since 2006. Evan is widely respected within the Southeast Queensland arts communities and beyond, bringing over 30 years of experience in the creative arts to ARTSHOP.

His art expertise spans a wide array of visual art forms, including printmaking, photography (both digital and film), ceramics, textiles, and various sculpture techniques such as casting and mechanics.

Additionally, his curatorial skills have been honed through his involvement in numerous large-scale exhibitions, as well as set design and construction for the theatre world, showcasing his imaginative vision and mechanical dexterity.

With a deep knowledge of art and arts education, Evan is a valued figure among students, educational colleagues, artists and collectors.

"ARTSHOP holds a unique and trusted place in the Darling Downs and beyond, known for its wonderful design and workmanship in custom picture framing and conservation-grade standards. I’m excited to join Cherylyn and the team and to get to know the clients and artists who have favoured this long-standing studio since 1991," Evan shared.

Cherylyn Russell, ARTSHOP’s Director, added, “Evan’s sound knowledge of artwork types, his sensitive mechanical dexterity and his curatorial brilliance make him an ideal fit for ARTSHOP. It is serendipitous that someone of Evan's calibre is available to join our team and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on board.”

Join us in celebrating this new collaboration for ARTSHOP in service of our collectors and vibrant creative community.
